LPRA Director-General Participates in Africa Energy Week Forum in Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town, South Africa – November 8, 2024:

Marilyn T. Logan, Director-General of the Liberia Petroleum Regulatory Authority (LPRA), recently joined industry leaders, policymakers, and energy experts at the prestigious Africa Energy Week Forum held in Cape Town, South Africa, from November 4-8, 2024.

This year’s event, themed “Invest in African Energies: Driving Growth Through an Enabling Environment,” brought together key stakeholders from across the continent and beyond to explore strategies to address Africa’s energy needs and unlock its vast energy potential.

The forum showcased Africa’s capacity to emerge as a global energy powerhouse, emphasizing the importance of visionary leadership and cross-sector collaboration in fostering sustainable growth and driving investment opportunities across the region.

Prominent participants included leading oil and gas companies, renewable energy firms, and regulatory agencies, such as Nigeria’s NNPC, Green Energy International Limited, Norwegian Energy Partners, Rosatom, and Ross Congress. These organizations presented their ongoing projects and innovative solutions aimed at advancing the energy landscape across Africa.

During the event, DG Logan underscored Liberia’s efforts to position itself as a key player in the energy sector. She highlighted the nation’s ongoing bid round, conducted through direct negotiations, emphasizing the untapped potential of Liberia’s virgin offshore basin.

“The Liberian basin represents a frontier of opportunities, offering immense potential for exploration and production. This event has provided invaluable insights and connections to further Liberia’s energy ambitions,” stated DG Logan.

Her participation at the forum underscored LPRA’s commitment to leveraging global platforms to promote Liberia as an attractive destination for energy investments while aligning with Africa’s collective vision for sustainable energy development.
