LPRA is committed to promoting local content and participation in the oil & gas sector as prescribed in the Petroleum Exploration and production law of 2014. By local content, we mean the monetary value of all locally produced materials, local personnel, and other services that are provided in the oil & gas industry. By participation, we mean the level of involvement of Liberian-owned oil & gas-related businesses in the oil and gas industry. Liberian-owned companies are those that have at least 51% equity owned by persons of natural-born Liberian citizenship. The LPRA will adopt a local content policy and release local content regulations to achieve Liberia’s local content and participation goals. The policy and regulations will be realistic, build value for Liberia, and attract responsible investors. They will also ensure local content activities are transparent and carefully monitored to avoid corruption and cronyism.
